Assault on Precinct 13 (1976)

John Carpenter's precursor to Halloween, Assault on Precinct 13 is a nice thriller and has aged well, even in comparison to the remake.

Okay, first up is Austin Stoker's house....

 Next is the jail.....

And the jail exit....

The area where the "ice cream" scene  was shot is literally not even there anymore technically.   The exact spot the car was located is now a freeway, however, the houses to the north and south of it are still there and identifiable.   Here is the view looking south....

And the view looking north, the ice cream truck was near the fire hydrant....

And finally the precinct itself in Venice....

A young Charles Cyphers....

And even younger Nancy Loomis...

  1. Good work! I've searched everywhere for the area from the scene where the gang members watch daddy and daughter drive by. Then they get in their car and drive off. I know Carpenter said alot of the area was torn down for the freeway. Any ideas?

  2. Let me know the time code in the movie for that scene. And yes, a lot of those areas in the film were already vacated or demolished in preparation for the freeway, so it may not exist any more. I got lucky with the ice cream scene by being able to match the adjacent houses.

  3. What are the addresses for these locations? Well, I know the police station in Venice, but how about the others? I've been searching for Austin Stoker's house for awhile now.

    1. Stoker's house is at 1957/59 North Alexandria Avenue in Hollywood.

The jail is Lincoln Heights Jail where many productions film.

The ice-cream scene is on South Berendo Avenue, at 117th & 115th Streets.

  4. The exterior of the gang hideout was located on the section of South New Hampshire Ave that was demolished for the 105.

The building at the corner of South New Hampshire Ave & 115th Pl appears in the background before the camera pans to the gang hideout.

The area where the gang member watches the car drive by was also demolished, but was located between South Broadway and where the 105 crosses the 110.

The building at 11422 South Broadway appears in the background when the car drives by.

    1. Nearly at Minute 14 (in Germany the Movies are shown 4 % faster) Katy and her father are driving by a parking Police AMC Matador in Front of 11151 Vermont Ave.
The apartment building with the warlord's black AMC Matador in front of was 406 W. 116th.
The blue Lincoln passed also 117th and drove along Vermont Ave. The blue building at the crossing is today the train station Vermont/Athens.
